Welcome to   Len Valley Girlguiding Logo

In Len Valley we have Guides for girls aged between 10 and 15 years. We meet every week in term time, Harrietsham on Tuesday evenings and Lenham on Friday evenings.

We have defferent patrols (small groups of guides with the unit) and in these we achieve badges and 'Go-For-Its'. These are different activities and challenges which are great fun!

Girl Guides is a 'male free zone' and gives you the opportunity to develop socially and personally in your own time.

Our activities include:
Camping - Hiking - Crafts - Games - Performing Arts - Charity Fund Raising - Community Involvement - and much more including topical discussions, faith awareness, ecology and conservation.

If anyone is thinking of joining our guide units I'd say go and give it a try, we have all made loads of new friends and had the opportunity to try something different.

Tapestry
Girl Guides was formed back in 1910 three years after Robert Baden-Powell set up the Boy Scout movement and has continued to grow and gain strength ever since. From then, Girlguiding UK as part of a worldwide movement, enables girls and young women to fulfil their potential and to take an active and responsible role in society through its distinctive, stimulating and enjoyable programme of activities.
This tapestry represents the thoughts, creativity and imagination of the girls and leaders from the 1st Harrietsham Girl Guide Group which includes: Nash/Lydia/Lauren/Rachael/Leigh/Ruby/Siobhan/Ellie/Vicky/
Clara/Dasha/Georgie/ Amy/Sue and Amy.

The tapestry is divided into four, representing our three patrols and Girlguiding as a worldwide organisation. Each of the three patrols designed and handcrafted one of the corners, trying to convey what Guiding means to them and to promote the varied activities that they are part of within the movement.

The top left corner conveys the Guide promise badge and shows that this tapestry was completed by the 1st Harrietsham Girl Guides. The top right corner differs in that we are showing some of the traditions of Guiding such as knots and friendships made all over the world. The bottom right is showing how Guides appreciate the great outdoors, camping and wide games and the bottom left shows how they enjoy campfires, outdoor cooking and singing.

We hope that our part of the tapestry shows that Guiding in Harrietsham is full of fun, excitement and diversity and plays a vital role in village life.
